Cardiology is the medical field focused on your heart and blood vessels. As a board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Ani uses physical exams and diagnostic tests to study your cardiovascular health, identify blockages, weaknesses, and other abnormalities that can cause cardiovascular health issues such as:

  • Ischemic heart disease (Heart attacks and Blocked arteries)

  • Valvular heart disease (Blocked and leaky valves)
  • Atrial fibrillation (Irregular heartbeat)
  • Arrhythmias (Fast or skipped beats)
  • Congestive heart failure (weak heart)
  • High cholesterol

  • Pericarditis

  • If you need an expert cardiologist, you can count on Dr. Ani and the team at Ani Medical Center.

How will I know that I need to see a cardiologist?

In many cases, you may not know that you have a cardiovascular health condition until you have a health crisis. Many of the warning signs, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol, don’t cause symptoms.

The most common signs of heart disease include chest pain and shortness of breath. Other symptoms of cardiovascular health issues include high blood pressure, an abnormal heartbeat, and dizziness.

What are common cardiology services?

At Ani Medical Center, Dr. Ani provides a comprehensive range of cardiovascular health services, including:

Stress test

Cardiac stress testing allows Dr. Ani to monitor your blood flow and heart function using PET and CT scans. The test creates detailed images of your blood vessels and the movement of your blood at rest and while your cardiovascular system is under stress.

An echocardiogram uses ultrasound technology to evaluate your heart function. Dr. Ani performs an echocardiogram in two parts. First, he conducts a resting test, running an ultrasound transducer over your chest. Then, for the stress part of the assessment, he applies electrodes to your chest, and you walk on a treadmill or ride a stationary bike until your heart rate peaks.

Often referred to as an EKG, an electrocardiogram measures and monitors the electrical activity in your heart. EKGs are noninvasive and use sticky electrodes to collect information about your heart function while you’re at rest or exercising.

Holter monitoring

A Holter monitor is a portable EKG monitor that you wear for a day. Dr. Ani uses a Holter monitor when you have symptoms of heart problems but an in-office EKG proves inconclusive. The equipment includes electrodes attached to your chest and a small monitor that you wear in a pouch around your neck. You keep a log of your activities and any changes in your mood while you wear the device.

Cardiac catheterization

Cardiac catheterization is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure during which Dr. Ani sends a catheter through your body to your heart. He can inject a dye into your heart for angiography, measure your intracardiac pressure and oxygen saturation, and can pass special surgical instruments through the catheter to perform certain procedures.

Coronary CT angiography

A coronary angiography procedure creates 3D images of your heart by merging multiple X-ray images with computer imaging to create cross-sectional views of your heart and the blood vessels that lead directly in and out of it. It’s a useful tool for identifying blockages in the coronary arteries and guiding angiography procedures.

Percutaneous coronary angioplasty

Dr. Ani also performs a coronary angioplasty to open narrow or blocked arteries. This is a minimally invasive procedure involving catheterization. Dr. Ani may place a stent in your artery to help it stay open and allow blood to flow freely.
